Day 8 - 415km - Isle of Skye

Sleeping on thick moss was like sleeping in a most comfortable bed so we woke up well rested, packed our things and went on. Today we are going to the Isle of Skye. But, before that we stopped few times along the road.

First stop - Spey bay. One of the places where you can see whales or dolphins. Unfortunatelly, we saw none (we came during low tide, and if you want to have more chance of glancing some of this beautiful animals, you should come during coming of the high tide). Nevertheless, the scenery was great and we saw up close those yellow bushes that were on almost every hill in Scotland.

Somebody was creative...

Loch Ness. There was no Nessie, but we stumbled upon a castle.

Getting closer to Isle of Skye, but before that another stop for Eilean Donan Castle.

More and more bikes as we rode closer to Isle of Skye

And then, one of the most beautiful roads for bike riders - from Inverness to Isle of Skye, but especially from Eilean Donan Castle to Skye. We really enjoyed today's ride, along with many other bike drivers we passed.

Friends recommended us the Dun Flodigarry Backpackers Hostel so we headed there and were very disappointed when they told us that they do not allow riders to camp there, just the hikers. We could sleep in their hostel or go to Uig to the nearest camp (so they said). Since we wanted to go hiking tomorrow (on the Old Man of Storr), Uig was too far for us. Fortunatelly, when we were passing Staffin we saw a camp sign so decided to go back a few kilometers and try to camp there. It turned out great, cause now we were even closer to the Old Man of Storr, camp was much cheaper than the one in Flodigarry, and the owner was very helpful with informations - warned us about midges, where to put a tent to escape them if possible, where to go hiking etc. So we decided to stay for 2 nights and get some rest from the road. It was a perfect time for Bells's Expedition stout.
