Packing

How to pack for a month-long trip by motorbike? Easier than you might think. Put on a floor all things you know you definitely need, then put them into a suitcases and if it fits - you're all done :)
More detailed - if you plan to go to camps, like we did, then you definitely need a tent, sleeping bag and a mat. For cooking you will need a gas bottle, cooking pot, oil and spices, a cup, spoon, fork, one universal knife, everything packed into small containers to take as little space as possible. Some dry soup, tea, biscuits, bottle of water. Things for bathroom/toilet. For clothes we took max 3-4 pieces of everything - shirts, socks, underwear. I took some extra warm shirts cause I'm always freezing and will have to have a lot of layers on me - we are going far north afterall. Also, a pair of shoes and trousers for "casual time". Motorbike gear - trousers, jacket, boots, kidney protection, rain jacket and trousers. Usb rechargable batteries, mobile phones, e-reader. And that was it! It all fitted into 3 suitcases we had. And there was even room for souvenirs.
A recap:
  • 3-4 shirts with short sleeves
  • 2-3 shirts with long sleeves
  • 3-4 pieces of underwear
  • 3-4 pairs of socks
  • jacket, trousers, shoes for casual time
  • moto gear
  • dry soap, dry shampoo, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, towel, toilet paper
  • tent, sleeping bag, mat (in my case inflatable beach mattress)
  • gas bottle, cooking pot, cup, spoon, fork, knife, oil, spices, dry food, water
  • rechargable batteries, mobile phone, e-reader
We are ready to go.

UK & Ireland - we are coming!

It is official, we both got our desired 4 weeks vacation for June! We have been planning a motorcycle trip to Great Britain and Ireland for few months now, and it finally feels like it is really going to happen.

We changed our planned ferry routes few times but finally decided to go on Stena Line's Hook of Holland-Harwich. That happend to be a very good choice - it turns out this route has a 20% discount for buying tickets until this Sunday. Prices vary, depending on a day you choose to travel (weekends are much more expensive) but since our journey would start on Thursday, and we have around 1600km to Hook of Holland (which we are planning to pass in 3 days), we don't want to lose 2 additional days just so we could get cheaper tickets. So we bought tickets for Saturday, and also bought a ticket for our return - same route, Wednesday 3 and a half weeks later.
