Day 7 - 325km - Aberdeenshire

First stop was a beautifully carved 15th century Rosslyn chapel, whom you may know from The Da Vinci Code movie. There are many legends about the church that was unfairly neglected for decades until about 25 years ago. One of them is about the "Apprentice Pillar", the most beautifully carved pillar in the church - according to the legend, the master mason did not believe that the apprentice could perform the complicated task of carving the column without seeing the original which formed the inspiration for the design. The master mason travelled to see the original himself, but upon his return was enraged to find that the apprentice had completed the column by himself. In a jealous anger, the master mason struck the apprentice on the head with his mallet, killing him. As punishment for his crime, the master mason's face was carved into the opposite corner to forever gaze upon his apprentice's pillar.

Going further north, we passed the Wallace monument, Glamis castle and arrived to our second longer stop - town Ellon in Aberdeenshire. If you are a beer fan you should know that here lies the BrewDog factory.

Marking 9 years of BrewDog with Dog E

After spending few pleasant hours in BrewDog it was time for us to find a place to sleep. There was no camp nearby so we decided to sleep on moss just beside the road. Great thing about Scotland is that you are allowed to camp anywhere, as long as you are not on somebody's property. So, moss - here we come :)

Our sleeping place for tonight
